    Tic/Tourette’s Disorder

Diagnosis of a Tic Disorder, including Tourette’s Disorder, is based on the presence of sudden, rapid, recurrent motor movements and/or vocalizations for a year that begin prior to the age of 18. Tics often ebb and flow and may disappear entirely prior to adulthood on their own.

While there is no cure for Tic Disorders, therapy options do exist to better manage the frequency, intensity, and impact of motor and vocal tics.

Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is utilized at PAC to help clients become more aware of their urge to tic before it happens, employ a competing behavior that prevents the tic, and modify and prepare for environmental triggers of the tic.
