Anxiety Disorders
Whether you are worried frequently or just in certain situations, if your anxiety is getting in the way of your life, negatively impacting your relationships, or causing you significant distress, you may be experiencing an Anxiety Disorder. More than 30% of Americans experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their life. All Anxiety Disorders in children, adolescents, and adults are treated at PAC including Separation Anxiety Disorder, Selective Mutism, Specific Phobias (including Emetophobia), Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Additionally, PAC often provides therapy for those seeking a different relationship with perfectionism and people-pleasing.
The most evidence-based based therapy for Anxiety Disorders is provided at PAC, integrating traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Exposure and Response Prevention, and third-wave CBT (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills).
When Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is the primary cause of anxiety, the gold standard treatments for PTSD are provided at PAC, including Trauma-Focused CBT for children and adolescents and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for adults.
If your loved one is likely suffering from an Anxiety Disorder but is not motivated to seek treatment, alternative, effective therapy options exist, such as the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program.
For children and adolescents with an anxiety disorder, SPACE is often a critical part of evidence-based treatment, whether in concert with individual CBT or as a standalone treatment.
